Cycling Pilates · Sandringham

The bike holds one position.
Your body has to live in it.

Cycling-specific Classical Pilates for riders who want a stronger position, more comfort over long hours and power that comes from the whole body—not just the legs.

The Red Rock difference

Hours in one shape. The body learns it.

Cycling asks you to fold forward, hold still and repeat a small movement for hours. It is wonderfully efficient and it is also very one-sided: the hips stay closed, the upper back stays rounded and the body slowly adapts to the shape you spend the most time in.

Noeleen O’Shea assessing a client's posture and movement

This is not a bike fit. A fitter adjusts the bike to the body you have today. Pilates works on the body itself, so the position you are asked to hold becomes one you can hold comfortably and repeat.

Bring what your riding looks like and where you feel it afterwards. Your Pilates program can then focus on the qualities that support the hours you actually spend on the bike.

A bike fit adjusts the bike. Pilates prepares the body that sits on it.

Cycling-specific focus

What we work on.

Not a generic workout. Your program is built around your body, your current movement and the demands of your riding.

  1. 01

    Hip flexor length

Undo the closed hip angle the saddle asks you to hold for hours at a time.

  2. 02

    Thoracic extension

Restore the upper-back movement a forward position slowly takes away.

  3. 03

    Glute activation

Bring the biggest muscles back into the pedal stroke rather than leaving it to the quads.

  4. 04

    Core stability

Create a still, supported trunk so the legs have something firm to push against.

  5. 05

    Neck + shoulder ease

Carry the upper body with less of the tension that builds over a long ride.

  6. 06

    Off-bike mobility

Move in the directions cycling never asks for, so the body stays balanced.

Personally taught

We do not change your position. We help you hold it.

Bike fitting and physical conditioning do different jobs. The best outcome is when they support each other.

If you are comfortable for an hour but not for four…

there may be a physical reason: hip flexors that will not lengthen, an upper back that cannot extend, glutes that switch off, or a trunk that gives way so the legs work alone. Pilates gives you a structured way to work on those qualities off the bike.

Bring your riding week.

Tell us how far, how often and how it feels afterwards. We will use that to shape the physical focus of your program.

Your pathway

Personalised from the very beginning.

Every rider begins privately so we can understand your goals and see how your body currently moves before building the program.

  1. 01

    Understand

We discuss your goals, your riding week, any discomfort on or off the bike and what you would like to improve.

  2. 02

    Design

We look at posture, rotation, hips, shoulders, pelvic stability, balance and whole-body control, then build your individual program.

  3. 03

    Progress

You begin an individual Classical Pilates program and continue with guided sessions and regular reviews.
